Sheffield & District Junior Lawyers Division

Candidates 2025/2026
Jacob Farrall
Treasurer Candidate
I am a Trainee Solicitor at Taylor Emmet and I would be delighted to undertake the Treasurer role on the committee, even more so if this was to be voted upon by members of the JLD. I am a keen attendee at most JLD events (and other networking events in the region) and feel that I have developed a positive rapport with the existing committee and members.
I would like to build on this positive relationship to enhance the experience of members going forwards.
My commercially-focused mindset will be of particular benefit in the Treasurer role, playing an important part in managing the aspects of the JLD. My seats as a Trainee are all commercially-based and this has enabled me to develop the required financial skills to be responsible for financial oversight, reporting and making timely payments.
I have also recently been nominated as Rising Star of the Year at the Sheffield Law Society Awards, which I hope demonstrates that I have the necessary organisational and time-management skills to excel in this role. I am looking forward to working with the members and committee.
Holly Illingworth
Treasurer Candidate
I believe I’d be a great fit to be the Treasurer of the Sheffield Junior Lawyers Division because of my experience and skills in handling finances, along with my leadership background. As a real estate paralegal at Knights, I’m comfortable managing and working to budgets and financial planning. In addition, my time as Treasurer and then subsequently President of the Sheffield Hallam Law and Advocacy Society during my undergraduate degree helped me develop a solid understanding of financial management.
In those roles, I was in charge of overseeing funds, paying invoices, and making sure everything was clear and accurate. This experience has given me the skills to manage the finances of the Sheffield Junior Lawyers Division effectively and ensure payments are made on time, with events properly budgeted for.
I also believe in the importance of good communication and teamwork. I’m excited about the chance to help the division provide opportunities for professional development.
I’d love the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of the Sheffield Junior Lawyers Division.
Grace Whitford-Wilson
Events Representative Candidate
I am a trainee solicitor at Lupton Fawcett. I am eager to apply for the Events Representative role at the Sheffield Junior Lawyers Division to use my organisational skills and enthusiasm for encouraging connections within the legal community to ensure events are inclusive and fun.
As a trainee solicitor, I appreciate the importance of building strong networks and creating opportunities for junior lawyers to collaborate and develop. I also completely understand how overwhelming events and networking can seem, for both experienced networkers and new committee members, and the importance of providing an environment where junior professionals feel comfortable to network, develop their skills, and have fun.
I am highly organised, detail-oriented, and experienced in planning events within Sheffield, making me well-suited to the Events Representative role. I am excited about the opportunity to promote a positive, inclusive environment for all members.
Kaja Kowal
Events Representative Candidate
With my experience as a legal assistant and a third-year law student, I have developed a strong understanding of the importance of collaboration, effective communication, and creating impactful experiences. My time as a Student Representative, Student Ambassador, and member of the Law Society has equipped me with the skills to engage and represent diverse groups, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.
As your Events Representative, I will bring my dedication and organisational skills to deliver events that are not only enjoyable but also meaningful for all members. I understand the effort required to create engaging, professional, and well-attended events, and I am committed to putting in the hard work necessary to make each event a success. From networking opportunities to social gatherings, I will ensure that every event reflects our shared goals and enhances our community.
Your vote will be a vote for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact, improving member engagement, and working tirelessly to create memorable experiences. Together, we can strengthen our network, celebrate our achievements, and make lasting connections.
Georgina Norman
Events Representative Candidate
I am a Paralegal at Wake Smith Solicitors and would be delighted to represent the JLD as Events Representative.
I am an attendee at the majority of JLD and other networking events in Sheffield and have built a good relationship with several members. I would like to expand on this through working
with the second Events Representative, remainder of the committee, and members of the Division to run exciting, beneficial events.
I have acted as President of the Events Committee at a previous firm and have contributed to the development of the Wake Smith Link networking group over the past year. I have experience in organising and co-ordinating multiple events, working with suppliers and venues, and liaising with colleagues to ensure events run smoothly. I believe the experience and skills I have gained from this will enable me to work with my fellow committee members
to organise effective and well-planned events.
I am currently undertaking my CILEx studies and hope to increase diversity/representation across the JLD for this and alternative qualification routes.
It would be a particularly special achievement to be voted for by my peers and JLD members, and I am looking forward to working with the committee.
